About this author

I am a writer and educator, with degrees in psychology and theater studies, and certificates in English teaching and Japanese proficiency.

I was born in Canada, but have spent most of my adult life traveling and working abroad. Along the way, I've climbed Mt. Fuji, touched noses with a Maori elder in New Zealand, snorkeled in Fiji, survived a tsunami evacuation in Samoa (and more recently, Nagasaki), snuggled a koala in Australia, chaperoned high schoolers on a bus tour of England, thrown up in the Czech Republic, attended grad school in Malta, worked on an archaeological dig in Spain, had laser therapy in Germany, taught at a university in Hungary, scaled pyramids in Mexico...

Translation is my bread and butter, and writing is my passion.

My latest book, "Prayers in Stone: Nagasaki's A-Bomb Heritage Sites" is now available in ebook format.

Richly illustrated and with a wealth of materials never before available in English, Prayers in Stone provides an overview of more than 200 of Nagasaki's A-bomb heritage sites, including: bells; bridges; cemeteries; churches; fountains; memorials; museums; parks; schools; shrines; statues; tem... A fascinating self-contained philosophical argument. Just be sure to read a version with alternative translations and plenty of commentary. Otherwise, you will be puzzling over what are most likely linguistic errors.

A brilliant example of stream of consciousness. The only thing that keeps this from being a masterpiece is an issue with composition - i.e. the social interplay of all the characters except Septimus.

L'Assommoir (The Dram Shop) by Émile Zola
The road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions, as illustrated by the outcome of Gervaise and all the other unfortunate characters in this novel. Most are not truly evil, just ignorant, undisciplined, and unkind, and for Zola, these sins are e...more

Ed Rambeau Thanks for accepting my friend request, David. You seem like an interesting person, as well as quite the prolific author, so feel free to tell me more about yourself. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. My first novel is an unusual murder mystery entitled: FORBIDDEN STEPS.

Regards, and have a great day, Ed
