Ann H. Gabhart grew up on a farm in Kentucky. By the time she was ten she knew she wanted to be a writer. She's published over twenty novels. She and her husband have three children and nine grandchildren. She still lives on a farm not far from where she grew up. She loves playing with her grandkids, walking with her dog, reading and, of course, writing. Her Shaker books, set in her fictional Shaker village of Harmony Hill in the 1800's, are popular with readers. The Outsider was a Christian Fiction Book Award Finalist in 2009. Her Heart of Hollyhill books are Small Town, America books set in the 1960's. Angel Sister, a Rosey Corner book set during the Great Depression, will be followed by Small Town Girl. All the good ideas I ever had came to me while I was milking a cow.  (Grant Wood)

I’ve been inviting readers – that’s you – to not be shy and ask me some questions. About writing. About my books. About things down here on the farm. Anything you might want to know. I don’t promise to have an answer, but I’ll say something!

Well, Melissa took me up on that and asked her question. Do you have any co...

Topics Mentioning This Author

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”
Michelangelo Buonarroti

“...Until they stood at last by a crumbling wall, looking up and up and still farther up at the great tombyard top of the old house. For that's what it seemed. The high mountain peak of the mansion was littered with what looked like black bones or iron rods, and enough chimneys to choke out smoke signals from three dozen fires on sooty hearths hidden far below in dim bowels of this monster place. With so many chimneys, the roof seemed a vast cemetery, each chimney signifying the burial place of some old god of fire or enchantress of steam, smoke, and firefly spark. even as they watched, a kind of bleak exhalation of soot breathed up out of some four dozen flues, darkening the sky still more, and putting out some few stars.”
Ray Bradbury, The Halloween Tree

Thanks so much, Carole. Those were nice words to hear from you. I really enjoyed my Hollyhill characters and I'm so happy that Revell Books is re-issuing Scent of Lilacs with a new cover. Hoping other readers will discover it the way you did and get to know Jocie and friends. If you liked that book, you might like Angel Sister if you haven't read it yet.

Carole Jarvis Thanks for friending me, Ann.

I became a fan of your writing several years ago when I read The Scent of Lilacs. One of my favorite sources of book recommendations is CBD's "new & recommended" page, which is where I discovered your book. The Scent of Lilacs had a style and character depth beyond anything I had found in the Christian market, and it remains one of my very favorites.

Janie R. Freeman Thanks for adding me as your friend! I am enjoying the 1st book of your Shaker series-The Outsider.

Ashlyn Thank-you for the friendship!
Have a wonderful Day!

Ann Gabhart Thanks, Ellen. Hope you enjoy the story if you read one of my books. A Christian thriller sounds interesting. I'll have to check out your book list. Hope you're having a productive and blessed day.
