Thanks for your question. The final Archer brother story is actually a novella. It originally appeared as part of the collection - A Match Made In Texas - along with stories by Mary Connealy, Carol Cox, and Regina Jennings. Recently, it became available as an e-single available for download on its own. The title of the individual novella (and e-single) is A Cowboy Unmatched. This is the youngest Archer's story. Neill. I'm so glad that you have enjoyed the Archer stories. I must admit that I grew rather found of those brothers. It was hard to say goodbye. Right now there are no plans for an additional books in that series, however, my latest release - FULL STEAM AHEAD - offers an obsessed scientist hero, a heroine with a pirate dagger, a runaway boy, and several steam boiler explosions for your reading pleasure. :-) Perhaps you'll find Darius and Nicole equally compelling.

Have a wonderful week!

It often depends on the book. Sometimes I have a very clear picture of who my characters are, and I research in order to flesh them out or come up with time-period crises they might face. Sometimes, the research is what inspires the characters. That is what happened with my latest book, Full Steam Ahead.

When I was brainstorming ideas, I wanted something exciting, something explosive. I thought to use a chemist—think laboratory experiments gone wrong—but my high school chemistry skills were too rusty. Then I remembered the steamboat disasters of the 1840's and 50's. Steam engine boilers exploded with alarming frequency, taking many lives. So I put my hero aboard an actual 19th century riverboat, the Louisiana, on the day that its boiler exploded in New Orleans, and his obsession with boiler safety was born.

And since Texas didn't have too many rivers to support these steamboats, research led me to Galveston where steamers were used in abundance. And Galveston let me to pirates - Jean Lafitte. Which helped me develop my heroine whose grandfather worked with Lafitte and was presented with a pirate dagger when he saved the pirate's life. So now I have a heroine with a pirate legacy and serious knife skills to pair up with my obsessed scientist. And it all started with the research. :-)(less)

Holli Karen, I just finished "Stealing the Preacher". THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!! I didn't think it possible to read a book I loved more than Short Straw Bride ... but it happened!!! You simply must consider giving Neill his own story too!!!! You can't leave the youngest hanging, Karen! Pleaseeeeeee!? :) I wish there was more stars to hand out. This one goes far beyond 5 stars! BRILLIANT!

Karen Witemeyer Hi, Holli. I'm so glad Crockett's story lived up to your expectations. I'm always nervous when a new book releases that readers won't like it as well as previous stories. Thanks for the reassurance.

You'll be happy to know that Neill IS getting his own story. It's a novella, not a full-length novel, but it's coming in January, so you don't have to wait too long. It will be part of the collection titled A Match Made in Texas. Authors Mary Connealy, Regina Jennings, and Carol Cox are contributing stories as well. You're so right. I couldn't leave Neill out. :-)

Have a great week!
