About this author

I write fiction and creative nonfiction and teach writing and literature at the College of Wooster in Ohio. My novel ALCESTIS, a retelling of the Greek myth, is available from Soho Press.

" Last year, I had a student who was so trenchantly unteachable that sometimes after reading his science fiction novel manuscript, I would be prostrate on the floor of my office. I would look at the carpet and think, it's so soft, isn't it? And then... "

Enjoyed this a lot. Excellent worldbuilding and pacing, interesting characters. I really wish it had been a standalone, rather than the first in a trilogy -- this is totally my own fault for reading five or six first-in-a-trilogy books so close toget...more
