Come

Come in the morning
Come at night
Hide me in darkness
Expose me in light.
Come through music
Come from a look
Come when released
Come when took.
Come when stranded
Living on the edge
Come in demand
Come in my head.
These wishes may be selfish
Pressure from a task
Beyond your capabilities?

Leaving Family Behind (History)

Description: Antoine Rubinstein folded the letter and slipped it back in the envelope. He handed it to Jonas. "Have you told Evelina?" Antoine asked as he peered over his egg-shaped reading glasses. Jonas hesitated in answering as he took the envelope. He wasn't prepared for that specific question. He looked down at his dull, brown shoes then back at his friend. He wanted to lie, but the deceiving words took too long to form. "You have not, have you?" Antoine asked, disappointed in his friend. "Well, I think it is time you do. No matter what age, women do not like life-changing surprises, especially the kind you are going to pull. And what about traveling arrangements, have you made any?" Jonas causally patted his friend's shoulder and jokingly replied, "You worry too much, my friend. Jonas has everything under control." The truth of the matter was that Jonas had nothing under control. He definitely wasn't looking forward to telling his sister he had received the letter from the labor agent. In that letter it states . . .

The Haunting of Andrew Sharpai (Mystery & Thrillers)

Description: She finished her task, stood, and faced me. The first thing I noticed was that many unruly, blonde threads had worked their way out of her braid. They hung like beads camouflaging her cheeks. Some of the threads were caught in both sides of her mouth. As she brushed the hair out and instinctively curled the strands behind her ears, I saw the features that made me gasp, step back, and regret my reaction at the same time. There on her left cheek, stretching from the bottom of her ear to the corner of her mouth, tunneled a scar as wide as a pencil and the color of seashell pink, pronouncing itself like a single railroad track. She causally turned her head away as her hands released the hair from behind her ears. This gesture brought attention to her dirt-soiled hands; symbolic silver and turquoise rings were on her left thumb and various fingers. She looked at me after finishing the gesture. Her eyes were sharp, royal-blue reflections of a thirty-ish-year-old-woman. Three wisps of hair fell forward, still refusing to remain behind her ears. Her face was a field of freckles mixed with smudges of grime, making her looks appealing in a Western, fresh-garden-girl kind of way. It was then that I saw another scar at the right corner of her mouth the size of a quarter. This god-awlful blemish appeared to be the result of a cigar burn, which resembled waffle patterns. I also noticed a pewter chain that hung to the top of an exposed, freckled breast bone, partially concealed behind the unbuttoned thermo top. On the chain dangled a large pendant in the shape of a pentagram. "Now," she said with a sigh. "What was it you needed?"

Description: Willy Jacobs was a hitchhiking junkie. I first realized this when he brought state maps to work. During out breaks he would unfold the maps and spread them out on the table, as if he was a general planning an attack. He would tell me he wanted to travel all the highways and stroll down every country road. He said he dreamed about exploring major cities and waving his hand over fields of grain. He planned on walking across bridges that spanned famous rivers, and seeing for himself just how vast the big sky country of Montana really is. Therefore, when Willy found out I had a sister living in Durango, Colorado, he slammed his fist down on the map and, with bulging white eyes, said, "We're going!"

"Minding Frankie" was a relaxing easy read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Binchy's voice has a homespun appeal that is as warm and inviting as drinking a cup of tea by the fireplace. The story itself was an unique tale of characters, in a modern day Irish...more

The final book in Larsson's trilogy. The pace is decent though laborious at times. It seemed to me that a good 100 plus pages could have been deleted; too much sex with to many partners; too many references to coffee and sandwiches; and too much unne...more

Ray Bradbury is perhaps the best science fiction writer of all time. My opinion of course. FAHRENHEIT 451 is horribly frightening because of its modern comparisons of today's censorship. Bradbury's imagination goes beyond our solar system with this o...more

The title of this novel has always intrigued me. In fact, I simply read this book, shortly after high school-1975-to find out what the title meant. Salinger does a exceptional job at presenting this tale. The story is catchy; the pace is good; and th...more
