About this author

Hi! Though I'm an author, I'm mostly here on Goodreads as a writer/reader, to focus on my fave books, sometimes to rave about them, other times go under the hood and think about what was really working for me. Thinking about what works in books is a way I improve as a writer. (Well, hopefully, anyway! LOL.)

So, I may seem like a pushover reviewer what with all 4 and 5 stars, but that's because I tend to record and discuss the books I love over here. (Not that I'm against negative reviews, I leave the proper reviewing to reviewers.) I invite anybody to follow my "reviews" or to friend me. (No promo spam - promise!)

About me: I'm the author of the Disillusionists trilogy, urban fantasy on the plotty psychological intrigue end of the spectrum. W...more

It's going to be steamy hot and humid here in Minnesota. I'm hoping to get some decent writing done, and then Mr. Crane and I are going off to our friend's home where we'll hang out and have fun and do some grilling.

But this mornin... read more »

The careful slow dance of these two characters as they get to know each other and slowly discover themselves was so wonderful. Not a big rollicking book, but one I cherished and learned a great deal from. Fabulous.
Carolyn Crane is on page 151 of 224 of Risky Christmas: I picked this up because I'm a big fan of Jill Sorenson's. Her story, Holiday Secrets, about a woman in witness protection, was awesome. Then I got sidetracked to another book, and I'm not familiar with the work of Jennifer Morey, the other writer here, so I never dipped into Morey's novella. Big mistake! I grabbed it running out the door for something to read in a waiting room, and wow. Loving. More to follow.

Maggie Ms (Mrs?) Crane, I am sorry to inform you I will have to send you an Assassin Cat in the Box if I cannot get my non e-reader hands on Head Rush. Especially after that cliff hanger. Here is a picture of said evil cat.

See how shifty he looks?!
P.S. I love your books & am quite looking forward to the day I get my hands on Head Rush. :)

Hey Kitten! Thank you for the question! Yes, I am busy working on two new series, one a lighter urban fantasy, one a dark yet quirky paranormal romance. They will both come out in one form or another - I should know more by spring on all that. And, there's the upcoming Simon enovella (Feb/March) which will be free to my newsletter subscribers for a week before it goes on sale. (I don't know if you're on the newsletter, but the link's at authorcarolyncrane.com if you want e-freebie Simon!)

I'm glad you enjoyed the Pratchett quotes. I love his humor!
