Adolf Hitler was an Austrian born, German politician who led the National Socialist German Workers (Nazi) Party, and became the Führer (leader) of the German people.

Hitler served in World War One, proving to be a brave soldier, but who was gassed towards the end of the war. In the post-war years, disliking the poverty, the influence of Communism, and the perceived moral decay of Germany, he involved himself in fascist politics. Hitler seized power in Germany on January 30, 1933 and ruled until his death in April 30, 1945. He stimulated the German economy by large scale government expenditure, and rearmed the German army.
