About this author

Sara Castro-Klarén is Professor of Latin American Culture and Literature at The Johns Hopkins University. Her fields of specialization are the Modern Latin American Novel, Literary and Cultural Theory and Colonial Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from the University of California in Los Angeles in 1968. She taught at Dartmouth College (1970-83) and chaired the Department of Spanish and Portuguese (1979-82). She was the Chief of the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress for three years and joined the Hopkins faculty in the Spring of 1987. She has been the recipient of several teaching awards.
