About this author

Award-winning & critically acclaimed author of The Kommandant's Mistress, and ten other books, longing for fame, fortune, and dark chocolate instead.

Formerly writing as "Sherri" because 1st editor said "real name wouldn't fit on cover of book" and that she wanted "an easy first name" to go with Szeman's "hard last name"; subsequent agents/editors "didn't want to lose name recognition of The Kommandant's Mistress". #WhenEditorsGoBad

Cinemax’s newest series The Knick, created by Steven Soderbergh, and starring Clive Owen, began its first episode with a graphic intensity that stunned many viewers. Subsequent episodes have promised many conflicts in the premise of a (fictionalized) privately funded Knickerbocker Hospital, located in one of the poorer neighborhoods of 1900s New York, while its philanthropist sponsors force Chi...

There are far better classical romantic comedies to read than Austen's books. What better place to find out who those authors are.

Hi, Jill, thanks to you, too. Have a happy Christmas. I've been working so hard, I don't think I've been on the site since Thanksgiving. Sorry for the delay. Ciao.

Hi, Rick. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've been working hard to get my next novel out by Christmas. Your comments were delightful. I hope it won't take me 10 years to shed "cougar" like poor John. Aren't some people who call themselves professionals just idiots? Have a happy Christmas.

Rick Barnett I hope you told that first editor that you were going to reduce their percentage or fee correspondingly as it "didn't fit into your budget."

This nitwit probably would have advised Henry Wadsworth Longfellow to truncate his name down to "Shortfella" or maybe "Shorty."

Back in the 1970s, John Mellencamp's record producer arbitrarily changed the artist's name to "Johnny Cougar." And that's how it appeared on his debut album. It took John more than ten years to shed the Cougar.

Your first editor's middle name should be "Idiot." I'm glad you've reclaimed your heritage, Alexandra, and I am delighted that we are friends.

Rick

Stuart Hi Alexandria, I can relate to switching computers and transferring a crazy amount of data we accumulate. No need to apologize, I am delighted that you will be reading my book.

I hope you are having a good week so far....

Best, Ross

Alexandria Stuart wrote: "Hi Alexandria, Well, from Twitter to Goodreads in an instant, great to be friends here too.

Hi, Ross, wasn't that easy? Just a click away from getting closer :-)
Thought it would be nice to be together here, too. Glad you agree.

Best,
Alexandria

p.s. Apologies for not having had a chance to read your book yet: I had to get a small business loan in order to get a new computer, which I picked up Saturday, and I've been spending the last couple days transferring my massive amounts of data from the external hard-drive of the old computer to the new one.

Stuart Hi Alexandria, Well, from Twitter to Goodreads in an instant, great to be friends here too.

Best, Ross :)
