<about><![CDATA[My name is Richard William Nelson, author of the book Darwin, Then and Now, The Most Amazing Story in the History of Science and blog host.

A Little About Me

While studying biological sciences at the University of California, Irvine, and later graduating with a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California, what was interesting to me was that evolution was taught as fact and credited to Darwin for originating the basic concepts of evolution, but Darwin was rarely ever quoted.

Finding the field of evolution even more intriguing after graduation, I continued investigating the scientific evidence for evolution. As the topic of evolution became even more contested, I became increasingly hooked on exploring the evidence for evolution . Elements of evolution like mutations and drug resistence paralleled my professional clinical pharmacology career. This interest eventually lead to the development of a series of presentations on evolution targeted to the high school, college, and university students. The interest generated from these presentations eventually became the driving motivation to write this book entitled Darwin, Then and Now.

Darwin Then and Now presents the time-line of events, people, and ideas on the history of evolution. With over a century of unprecedented biological research since the publication of The Origin of Species, now is the time to reflect on the scientific evidence of evolution. This blog is a forum for focusing on one of today’s hottest and contentious topics – evolution.
