Bestselling, award-winning author Deb Baker writes the hilarious Gertie Johnson mystery series set in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A native Yooper herself, Deb brings her blend of humor and sass to everything she writes, including mysteries written under her pen name Hannah Reed.

In addition to the Yooper mysteries, Deb/Hannah also penned a doll collecting series, beekeeping mysteries, and a Scottish Highland trilogy.

A full-length uncensored hoot of a backwoods caper.

Gertie Johnson is on cloud nine when Grandma Johnson goes away on a week-long outing. But after cohorts Cora Mae and Kitty fail their concealed carry class, they soon realize that someone is aiming to kill.

The Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner
"I liked the story, but the writing left something to be desired, I think... and (don't hate me) there were aspects of Gardner's personality that came out in his book that made him a little bit less of a likeable character for me. Not that I didn't..." Read more of this review »

Michael Murphy Deb, thanks for connecting on Goodreads. Wishing you continued success with your writing. Hope you'll consider adding my new Prohibition-era mystery, The Yankee Club, to your to read list. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Great! Thank her for me. Hope she's recovering well.

Rosemary Deb, my mother just finished Dolled Up For Murder and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Deb Give your mom my best wishes for a speedy recover. I've heard great things about Murder By the Book but haven't been that way yet. You're the best.

Rosemary Deb, when I'm in town (Houston) next Saturday, I plan to visit Murder by the Book and pick up some of your doll mysteries. My mother is staying with me (recuperating from a broken hip), and after I told her about learning of your series on Goodreads, she wants to read them. Good books are really helping her recover!

message 4: by Deb

Deb Rosemary, that's right, we did role play with our dolls and create stories. Such fun!

Rosemary Deb, thank you so much for befriending me. I'm excited to learn about your line of "doll" murder mysteries. Dolls and doll playing were a huge influence on my development as a writer (all that creating personalities for the dolls and making up stories for them to enact). When my daughters were little we read a book called The Dollhouse Murders--now we need to move on to your books!
