As most of Ken Follett's books are: entertaining and well plotted. His writing style is getting a bit sloppy these days (or maybe it's his editor), but he still puts together a compelling story that makes the reader turn pages.

This nicely put together debut novel is an enjoyable read. Great twists and turns and a likable main character who evolves as the story progresses. Looking forward to the author's next book.

Today, for instance, as man and woman, both lover and mistress, I rode in a forest on an autumn afternoon under the yellow leaves, and I was also the horses, the leaves, the wind, the words my people uttered, even the red sun that made them almost close their love-drowned eyes.”
