About this author

My latest book, CODE NAME: JOHNNY WALKER was hailed by Kirkus Review as a “fiery, insightful memoir from the former Iraqi translator who fought alongside U.S. Special Forces during the recent war in Iraq.” They also “a harrowing personal journey of courageous self-empowerment during wartime.” called it an “invaluable insider’s perspective of Iraq.

I wrote it with the real "Johnny Walker," who was born and raised in Iraq. His dream of building a better country after the ouster of Sadaam Hussein was dashed by religious and sectarian violence. He risked his own life to help US military track down religious terrorists who targeted innocent Iraqi civilians and American military installations. I first heard about him from Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (who...more

Just found out that our book, CODE NAME: JOHNNY WALKER, just reached the New York Times Bestsellers list, and will be posted in the March 2 edition of the Book Review section.

I'm on my way home from our book tour, first in Virginia, then Southern California, where Johnny and I did a number of book signings and radio and print interviews. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to see us, espec... Read more of this blog post »

Kill Grandma For Me by Jim DeFelice
" I read this book for a criminal justice project in college on juveniles. Having grown up in saugerties, this story was a true shocker since saugerties for the most part is a quiet, small community. It was well written, appeared factual and does dr... " Read more of this review »

description: I'd love to see fans and friends at Monday night's CODE NAME: JOHNNY WALKER Book Party. Johnny Walker and I (Jim DeFelice) will discuss Johnny's new memoir and his experiences as an interpreter for Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and other American soldiers in their mission to apprehend terrorists in Iraq, his native country. C-SPAN's "Book TV" will be taping the discussion, and a book signing will follow. Hope to see you there!
Jim DeFelice is on page 355 of 509 of One Summer: August: Anarchists. There's just enough on Sacco and Vanzetti to make me want to read more about the case. While Bryson obviously thinks they were guilty of murder, his brief description of events points in the other direction. It’s always been clear the pair were anarchists, but they didn’t get anything near a fair trial on the charges: robbery and murdering working men weren't hallmarks of the anarchist movement.
