Jeanne
In answer to your question I guess I really
became interested in writing about fifteen
years ago, when I retired for the first time!
I lived on a yacht sailing the Mediterranean
Sea at the time and took a correspondence
writing course, both out of interest and for
something to occupy my time. Though I
enjoyed the course I could not find a niche
into which I could practice my writing as I
wanted to see if I could earn some money
with my articles. I then, after many years
bobbing about on the water, returned to
working as an engineer but more as what is
described as a technical author. And, with my
writing course skills added to my English
education and engineering background I found
this to be quite enjoyable. It was after some time
employed in the role of technical author that I
began writing poetry and then my idea for a story
popped into my head and I began scribbling parts
of what became Dog Dirt Doris.
I describe where the idea for the story came from
at the end of the book so I’m a little reserved in
explaining here, if you’ll excuse me, though you
can visit the dogdirtdoris.com web site and glean
a little more information behind the book there.
Kind regards,
Howard
