This poem is being written in my parents’ house
almost as we speak. It isn’t raining. The A/C’s whooshing.
It’s an interesting poem already because
Kirkwood, Missouri is the birthplace of Marianne Moore,
daughter of mechanical engineer John Milton Moore.
I, too, am the daughter of a mechanical engineer,
