About this author

Lynn Raye Harris read her first Harlequin Mills & Boon romance when her grandmother carted home a box from a yard sale. She didn’t know she wanted to be a writer then, but she definitely knew she wanted to marry a sheikh or a prince and live the glamorous life she read about in the pages. Instead, she married a military man and moved around the world. She’s been inside the Kremlin, hiked up a Korean mountain, floated on a gondola in Venice and stood inside volcanoes at opposite ends of the world.

These days Lynn lives in Alabama with her handsome husband and two crazy cats. When she’s not writing, she loves to read, shop for antiques, cook gourmet meals and try new wines. She is also an avowed shoeaholic and thinks there’s nothing better...more

I finished a book last week and sent it to my editor. I always feel a little bit like a dog that’s been straining against a chain and suddenly finds the chain has broken and she’s free to run. I don’t know where to run or what to do, so I zigzag a bit. I clean my office, make notes for other stories, open up old manuscripts and wonder if they can be saved. I go to the grocery store, do some lau...

Still not quite sure how I feel about this one. On the one hand, it's an excellent portrayal of a drunken mind. On the other, you just want to tell these people to get over it. I think I'm over the heavy literature stuff. I prefer happy endings these...more

I adored it! But this is no surprise. Caitlin Crews could write a grocery list and I'd find it entertaining. I love dark, tormented heroes who are so bad you wonder if they can be redeemed, so Theo's questionable morals didn't bother me in the least....more

I plowed through this book, as I always do with SEP. There were a couple of vague things that bothered me, but they were so minor really that it hardly matters. I never felt that close to Ted, and I realized why that was. The majority of the book is...more

“Sometimes waiting makes the culmination that much sweeter.”
Lynn Raye Harris, Strangers in the Desert

“He closed the distance between them, slipped an arm around her waist beneath the blanket. His fingers traced her jaw, slid into the hair at her nape. “You are a fascinating woman, Paige. No wonder Russell chose you for this task. Or did you volunteer?”

With a tug, she was flush against him. The blanket fell away as she let it go to press her hands against his chest. Paige closed her eyes. His naked chest.

His skin was hot beneath her hands, silky and hard, and she wanted to pet him like a cat.

How could she possibly find him sexy at a time like this?

“Let me go,” she breathed.

“Before you’ve done what you came to do?”

“I didn’t come here to do anything.”

“What did Russell offer you?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

“Were you supposed to seduce me? Supposed to leave me sated and exhausted in bed while you went through my papers?” His head dipped toward her. “Because I have to say, Paige, that I am very disappointed in your technique thus far. But I find I am quite willing to allow you to complete your mission.

She knew she should pull away when his lips touched hers, but it was physically impossible. Not because he held her too tightly, but because her body was zinging with sparks that she didn’t want to end…”
Lynn Raye Harris, Prince Voronov's Virgin

“The necklace, Marcos,” she said firmly, leveling the gun at his heart once more. “I’ll take it now.”

“It’s not here, querida. You waste your time.”

Francesca lowered the gun to point at his groin. “Killing you would be too good. Perhaps I will simply have to deprive the female world of your ability to make love ever again. I am quite a good shot, I assure you.”

She’d learned out of necessity. And though she never wanted to harm another human being, she had no compunction about making this man think she would do so if it meant she could save Jacques.

His voice dropped to a growl. A hateful, angry growl. “You won’t get away with this. Whoever you are, Frankie, I will find you. I will find you and make you wish you’d never met me.”

Her heart flipped in her chest. She ignored it. “I already wish that. Now give me the jewel before you lose the ability to ever have children.”

Bitterness twisted inside her as she said those words. Ironic to threaten someone with something she would never wish on another soul. But she had to be hard, cold, ruthless – just like he was.

He stared at her in impotent fury, his jaw grinding, his beautiful black eyes flashing daggers at her. Very slowly, he reached up with one hand and slipped his bowtie free of its knot.

Then he jerked it loose and let it fall.”

Lynn Harris I've been meaning to say something about this for a while, but perhaps some of you are wondering about my ratings and if I can be trusted since I'm an author.

You're absolutely right that you won't see anything less than 4 stars from me, unless it's in a field far different than romance or if the author is dead. OTOH, I won't put stars up for every single book I read either. If I really, really don't like something, I'm probably not going to admit I read it.

You will also see where I occasionally post something with no stars -- that's because I read it but I don't feel qualified, for whatever reason, to give it a rating. Doesn't mean I hated it, but probably means I didn't love it either.

I try to write reviews about what I really loved about a book, but I don't always get around to it. Some books that are fabulous don't stick with me. Other books do. I am a true reader and not just trying to pump my friends (or myself) up with reviews. But, being a fellow author, I know the work that goes into writing a book and I will never tell someone that all that hard work sucks. Can't do it.

And that's how I review what I read! So now you know. :)
