When God Winks at You by Squire Rushnell
I read this book as a bedtime story book for my kids. They loved it. It has lots of neat, true stories about how people found hope through little and not-so-little "godwinks", messages of reassurance that you're safe and not alone. It helps if you al...more

The Wisdom Way of Knowing by Cynthia Bourgeault
Nice, concise introduction to the western Wisdom tradition. It alludes to much more than it reveals, but I think that's the point. The bibliography provides a good launching point for deeper investigation.

Mark Twain
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Mark Twain

John Lennon
“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”
John Lennon
