Looking forward to my copy, Evelyn! A very good idea to make a little book like this. My mentor made one for a reading she did at one of my residencies, though she did it by hand and I still have it and treasure it. I've thought about looking into this for myself. Take care. Wishing you well at the reading, if it hasn't happened yet and all future readings.
Thank you, Meg!
I think that making a book is a good idea--go for it! I have been meaning to learn some book-binding techniques (other than staples) for a while. I'd like the next small book that I make to be hand-bound. I'm looking around for a good book about book binding.
Like, check out hermeticpress@gmail.com if you're, like, interested in doing a book the way it used to be done and, in the doing, like consequently inures itself with a certain burnished character. Personally I think "old ways" are a feeble attempt to quantify and qualify time, but like that's a separate discussion which profits me little. Phil Gallo is a master bookmaker, typographer and a fine Minnesotan, you f-ing betcha.

When you're a writer who does public readings, it's sometimes nice to have work to hand out. Old ways, new ways, I don't think it matters.

I think you're arguing just to argue. You contradict yourself in your first post. Want to buy a book?
To Bill: I agree and you make a good point, but I frankly havent even figured out how to use a stapler yet, so in my case, the point is moot. I just want something kind of cute to hand out at readings and have been asked for take-home trinkets and think I could make a little book and sell it for the minimum. Why not.
P.S. And yeah, what Evelyn said. Buy, you know?
