Aaron Drown resides in Tennessee, just outside of Memphis. A Navy brat from Brunswick, Maine, childhood for him was a cross-country adventure encountering all shapes, shades and sizes of people and places. In school he was one of the kids who usually finished his work first, and took to amusing himself by performing little stories at his seat with erasers and scraps of paper — most often some variation of Star Wars.

Fantasy stories became a reliable retreat during long days on the road in-between new schools and new friends, and in junior high the one-two combination of the movie Excalibur and his father’s gift of a well-worn copy of Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonflight sent him reeling. Knowing which ones to keep.

So, Saturday was a long day. A good day, mind you, but long. I headed out to Hot Springs, Arkansas a little after lunchtime for a 5 o'clock book signing and reading at the Artchurch Studio. Soon afterward Idrove right back, getting home a little after 1 in the morning. That's not a complaint, just so you know. Not at all. It was a perfect day and the Ozark foothills were gorgeous.
