I wrote Red Chaser, a noir thriller about the 1950s, the Cold War and the Brooklyn Dodgers and didn't even try to go to a mainstream publisher. I only wanted it on Kindle. After all, it's projected that there will be 28 million of these devices out there in three or four years. And, importantly, a Kindle book can be read on a PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad or BlackBerry. Wow, this gives an author the opportunity to reach readers on a direct path. This is appealing to me.

In my last book, a non-fiction marketing book, I put my personal email address in the dust jacket. My publisher warned me against that. I got over 5,000 emails from readers. That was terrific! I answered each one.

For the past year, Red Chaser has been in the top 2% of Kindle books s

At my age, I read for fun. Don't talk to me about books that will make me smarter. I was already as smart as I'll ever be a few decades ago. And, reading retirement financial books is the best way to nod off quickly.

Give me a good mystery book. For me, I prefer a different era like the Nate Heller books by Max Allan Collins or James Ellroy books.

I don't give any book a big chance. If it isn't... Read more of this blog post »

“I don't give any book a big chance. If it isn't interesting from the get-go, I let go. Sure I paid for the book, but I don't have to pay more in my time to read a book that bores me. If I don't enjoy reading it, why read it? For my original investment in the book? That's silly.”

Moon Jon,
I finally finished reading your book and am sorry it took me so long to read it. I just bought myself a Kindle and that is how I finished it. I really loved this book and as soon as you come out with your second book of Jake McHenry, I want to know about it. Thanks again for a great book and I wrote a lot on my "all ready read" message where your book is listed on my account. Keep up the great work. Mary
