Jessie Carty's poems, fiction and non-fiction have appeared in publications such as Iodine Poetry Journal, The Houston Literary Review and The Main Street Rag. Jessie is the author of four poetry collections including the most recent chapbook release "Fat Girl" from Sibling Rivalry Press (2011). Her first full length collection "Paper House" (Folded Word, 2010) won the Northern California Poetry Award. Jessie has been a finalist in several poetry and chapbook contests, including placing third in the St. Louis Poetry Center's 2008 contest after which her poem "Sex Education" appeared in MARGIE. Her work has also been twice nominated for the Best of the Net Award. Her poem "Drawn to Heroes" is a 2009 Best of the Net Finalist. Jessie teaching creative writing, literature and composition at RCCC. She received her MFA from Queens University of Charlotte.
