About this author

I graduated with honors from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's Degree in English and worked there for 13 years before becoming a full-time novelist.

Currently available titles include Heart's Chalice (novel -- dark, edgy women's fiction), Ripples (stories -- magical realism), Patchwork Stained Glass (novel -- book club fiction), Thy Eternal Summer (novella -- contemporary romance), and Mirror Blue (novel -- literary love story). I have more novels in the works.

I think of myself as an Adventurer Poet. I live near a fabulous network of mountain trails. Part of me is happiest when I'm hiking or scrambling up rocks and through laurel thickets in search of waterfalls. The other part is happiest when I'm at my computer spinning ta...more

How long have I been doing this here (on this blog and its predecessor)? Hmmm….. *thinking.* Since 2006. My goodness [...]

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

Mahatma Gandhi
“Anger and intolerance are the twin enemies of correct understanding.”
Mahatma Gandhi

Howard Zinn
“TO BE HOPEFUL in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.
What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.
And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.”
Howard Zinn

Hunter S. Thompson
“When the going gets weird, the weird turn professional.”
Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72

“We who choose to surround ourselves
with lives even more temporary than our
own, live within a fragile circle;
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we would still live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only
certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan.”
Irving Townsend
