About this author

"Afghan Journal - A Soldier's Year in Afghanistan" is Jeff Courter's first commercially published book.

He is a Sergeant First Class in the Illinois Army National Guard, currently serving as recruiting and retention NCO in Chicago.

The book was inspired by a collection of journal entries Sergeant Courter authored for Rev. Charles Henderson's "GodWeb" blog, when he served for a year in Afghanistan, training and mentoring the Afghan Border Police. During his tour, he fought the Taliban and participated in numerous combat and humanitarian missions - while experiencing first-hand the fear and poverty that the Afghan people endure.
