This is a slightly experimental piece I am working on. You're not going crazy and it's not a typo; I do say F* you to the English gender pronouns in this piece, and I did do this for a specific reason. Please give feed back and let me know what you think. Also, excuse typos and grammar mistakes as this is a rough draft. I am considering leaving it as a short story but also considering making it a short novel. Let me know what you think!

I really do love the story. It does have the word f*g, but I do believe it is something young adults and high school teens should read.
We protect our kids a lot from the reality of how cruel high school can be, but the fact remains that many teens are called horrible names throughout high school and need to know they are not alone and that it does get better. I believe it would be disrespectful to those brave souls to belittle what they go through by not telling their story as it is.
In the last 3 months alone, the word f*gg*t has been tweeted 2.6 MILLION times (not thousands but millions). This is what our young queer youth are dealing with folks, and ignoring it will not make it go away. Facing it head on and letting these kids know they are not alone is the only way we are going to start making some real change. That's why I decided to use these terms in my story.
These terms are sad attempts to make their recipients feel less than human, but the the words are just that: words. If we can realize this odd set of vocabulary as the language of ignorance, then perhaps we can rise above it and show that the LGBTQI of this nation are more than the faulty insults we are ascribed.

Description:
This spoken word poem is a dramatized testament to my battle. I was suicidal in middle school and almost took my own life. This poem is my way of conveying the story of my survival and promoting suicide awareness. We must end the silence. I have performed this piece at Pensacola's Seeds of Hope and at other suicide prevention venues. By speaking up we give a light of hope to another's darkness.
