About this author

I grew up in Thornhill, Ontario, with a family who loved to read. What could I do but read too? I began to create stories and comic books when I was eight, and I continued this habit by writing poetry in high school. By then I was hooked on books, so I studied English at university then became a book editor and a technical writer. After I had kids, I began writing fiction for children and teens. I believe that writers' groups and workshops are an excellent way to nurture creative growth and innovation. I regularly conducts writing workshops for adults and children. I live in Toronto with my husband and two daughters.


I have nothing but respect and admiration for Orca Books‘ editor Sarah Harvey. Working with Sarah on my novel The Yo-Yo Prophet in 2011 was a delight, and I was keen to work with her again.
