I just can’t seem to stop working. I’m not quite sure why my muse is kicked into overdrive rather than lolling around demanding back rubs and bon-bons (she is a very dramatic muse), but instead, every day when I rise and tell her she can have the day off, she snorts disdainfully and demands I load up Secret Project II so I can finish entering edits (which is a lengthy and tedious task, and one at which I get sleepy doing, so I tend to do it in small chunks). That or she will start thinking about

I will get to the questions you all posted yesterday in a post later today. Probably written while I’m sitting out in the rare sunshine, which alas is pollen-laden, but we can’t have everything, right? I’ll take the sunshine, thank you.

Today’s field trip is courtesy of my Evil Assistant Jennifer, who posted it on my message forum. I’d never seen it, but evidently a bunch of folk have–if you haven’t, I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I did.

Editor Laura sent me the cover copy for STEAMED today. It needed a bit of tweaking here and there, but as usual, the crack Cover Copy Writing Team at Penguin Putnam has done a splendid job. I’m going to let you all have a sneak preview of it, but be warned that this copy isn’t necessarily what’s going to end up on the back of the book–it’s preliminary, and various and sundry folk must give it the eye and their approval before it becomes final.

The tagline at the top is so awesome, I’m going to us

It’s Tuesday! You have good news! Share!

[This abbreviated post courtesy of the fact that I'm in high-octane editing mode on Secret Project II.:]

Why are years always under our belts? I should look that up some time.

Today we have Andrea. He is, as you will note, not jailbait.

At least, not in the sense of him being too young.

I’m willing to admit he could inspire me to do a few things that might not be considered wholly legal…*cough*

Then again, I’ve always had a thing for men who look like they’ve wrestled with life, and won.

Bonus points for stubble!

The last two days have been rather intense for me. I haven’t done much of anything but write and revise. The only WOW time I spent was in a weekly raid. I didn’t watch any movies. I didn’t read anything but the Secret Project II. I drove my dogs nuts by refusing to leave the computer room, spending long, long hours at the computer, writing furiously.

It all started Wednesday evening when I had a sudden epiphany. First thing Thursday morning, I was at it, deciding whether or not the Secret Project

Well, kind of. I managed to finish the outline for the next book that I will be writing, now punningly titled The Vampire Also Rises. I giggle every time I think of that. But giggles aside, the outline is done and I have a couple of days to let Steamed ferment before I set about editing it. It’s sunny here again (although the weather folk say that won’t last beyond today), so I might even drag my pale, pasty body out to the deck and allow actual motes of sunlight touch it.

In other good news, my

Today brings with it sunshine here at Rancho Doghair (for which I am appropriately dumbfounded, since the Rancho is located in the PNW, which we all known usually suffers rain for a good 11 and half of 12 months out of the year). It also brings with it Byron.

Or rather, pictures of Byron, since alas, I am unable to provide everyone with a Byron of their own. Which is a shame.

Is it just me, or is he deliciously dark and broody?

And all “I desperately need a good woman NOW”  angsty? Should we take v

How could I forget to share this? This is a preliminary look at the UK version of Me and My Shadow (which will be out the same time as the US version, which is Nov. 2009). The publisher went to a lot of trouble to find a very May-like model. I think they got the look beautifully.

Those of you who were watching my Twitter feed yesterday would have noted the sparse messages, and no doubt saw my victorious announcement that STEAMED, the first in my new sexy steampunk adventures, was finished. I’m officially in celebration mode, at least for a few days until I have to sit down and edit the beast.

I love editing, so that won’t be too onerous. I actually prefer editing to writing the thing in the first place, but you gotta do the latter to get to the former, right? Right. And a
