Katie MacAlister's Blog

This week's Dishy Guy is Wade. Yes, it's a case of "Katie's in another mood for scruffy guys."

You know how weak I am in the face of manly stubble. And Wade has the added bonus of real, live chest hair!

That's rather rare in the world of waxing! So he gets bonus points for that. And for this…

Guys who wear black, stand next to helicopters, and look dangerous always chime my bells.

Besides, he has nice eyes.

For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting Holy Smokes' audio release, it is now availabl

This week's field trip will probably tickle bibliophiles like me.

No, it's not a site about pantyhose crafts…it's one celebrating some of the truly awful library books there are to be found in one's local library.

I'm a big fan of libraries–a weekly trip to the library was one of my fondest childhood memories, but honestly, there are a lot of books out there that you really have to wonder about. And the Awful Library Books blog picks out a few of them to share with everyone!

I think my favorite ent

Editor Laura has agreed to being interviewed here, so now's the time to put on your thinking caps, and post some questions for her here on the blog, or send them to me via e-mail.

Feel free to ask questions about how cover art is decided, what an editor does when s/he edits a book, what she thought when she came back from maternity leave and found I'd been dumped on her lap, etc. I will collect the questions and pass them on to her, and post her responses. The only questions I won't pass along are

The boy dog wishes to thank everyone who sent him warm fuzzy get well wishes.

So, I slacked off yesterday and forgot to do a GNT post. I'd feel worse about that, but hey! A day of slacking off! It was awesome! Now, however, I'm back at the grind with my freshly made To-Do list, and a determination to actually get some things done today.

My good news for the week is that the edit on Love in the Time of Dragons is done, and as soon as I enter in the last few changes, it shall wing its way across the

Something is seriously wrong with me. I went Dishy Guy Monday browsing, and was left cold after an hour of searching. The guys just looked too young, too scary intense, or just plain too meh.

Matt is the best of what I found.

I'm not sure about that expression above, though. He looks kinda wary to me.

Then again, this one is kind of dubious, too.

At least he's not quite so wary looking.

And then we have the shades pic.

I can't tell if he's looking manfully into the distance, or if he's just thinking a

After my burst of cleaning and organizing this morning, I finally have my keyboard cleared so I can type again (yay!).

Today's field trip is for those of you who like odd, old books.

The fine folks over at Project Gutenberg have made available BARKHAM BURROUGHS' ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF ASTOUNDING FACTS AND USEFUL INFORMATION (1889)

Where else will you find such interesting topics as How Poor Boys Become Successful Men, How to be Handsome, Detecting Counterfeit Money, and the Masterpieces of Eloquence?

I want to thank everyone for your tolerance while I avoided Dishy Guy Monday the last few weeks. My heart hasn't been in it, and much appreciate folks letting me slide on that regard. I intend for it to return next Monday, so hopefully those of you who have suffered without DGM will be placated.

Today is our traditional good news day. Despite the fact that we had to take Idiot Boy Dog into the emergency vet hospital Sunday night, and his subsequent diagnosis of a ruptured ear drum, all is relativ

What's Katie up to today, you ask?

Oh, come on, someone ask it. Thank you. Well, I'll tell you…no, wait, I'll show you:

That, dear hearts, is a butt-ton of paperwork that I spent the morning filing into the appropriate folders, everything from royalty statements to contracts, bestseller lists, and subsidiary rights info. This was mid-way through the process, when my entire computer desk was covered with stacks of papers waiting to be tucked away.

My editor Laura e-mailed me to ask when I could deli

GNT

It's a little difficult for me to round up good news today. We brought home the ashes of my girl yesterday, and are a bit weepy still. However, I did want to thank everyone again for the kind wishes and sympathy. You guys really did make a horrible time a bit more bearable.

Someone e-mailed me the following video. I'm sure many of you have seen it, but if you haven't, it's worth sitting back and watching, even if it is past the 4th.

And be sure to post your good news for the week. The dogs and I c

If you're on Goodreads, you might be interested in a new discussion group I just created: Q&A With Katie. It's a month of questions and answers…well, as many answers as I can give without ruining upcoming books.
