Today's Field Trip is a melancholy one. With National Threatened Species Day approaching in Australia (September 7th), I thought it was a good time to remember those species of animals that mankind has wiped out.

The dodo, the passenger pigeon, the sea mink, and the Queen of Sheba's gazelle…the list of animals that are now extinct is huge, but one that struck a chord with me was the thylacine.
