<about>Young Venezuelan author A. A. Alvarez puts the "I" in immigration with a fun novel that demonstrates that money is not the only reason young people emigrate abroad.

With a passionate and entertaining writing style, the debutant author provides an insider’s perspective about the way plenty of today’s young immigrants live their lives and why well-established Latin Americans also pursue their dreams in North America and Europe. Alvarez's book, Chronicles of a Nomad: Memoirs of an Immigrant, is a first-person adventure told from the perspective of an intrepid immigrant named Carlos Rodriguez.

"By merging my own experiences with those of the many immigrants I have met during my own journey of adaptation, I hope to shed some light on the shadow cast by the nations that divide us. We’re all people with dreams and hopes that unite us, and with or without borders, we’re all citizens of the world."

A. A. Alvarez was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and left his country after witnessing several revolts, a major economic disaster, and two coup attempts.

Although he preferred to write his first book in English, his native language is Spanish. He also speaks Greek and lives happily with his beautiful wife in the southern suburbs of Athens, Greece.</about>

Chronicles of a Nomad: Memoirs of an Immigrant is a first-person adventure narrated by Carlos Rodriguez, an intrepid young immigrant who embarked in a journey of self-discovery and reflection by confiding his secrets to the reader. Although he spends his childhood in abundance, at age fifteen, the worsening state of his troubled nation leads him to Denver, Colorado, where he ends up overstaying the time allowed on his tourist visa. Not many years later, he is left with no choice but to immigrate to Greece, where the ghosts of his past challenge his future and where his search for home leads him farther away from his hometown, Caracas, Venezuela.

The engaging story takes the reader on an exciting roller-coaster ride through three very different countries and a multitude of obstacles that are often serious and humorous at the same time. The author's easy-going style can be enjoyed by readers of all origins and political affiliations, and his chapters include topics on family, education, culture, religion, economy, politics, love, and of course, immigration.

What readers are saying:
"A beautiful story full of lessons and anecdotes from the very special perspective of a Venezuelan child. A great book for teens and adults alike."

"Very enjoyable! The author's way to tell the stories, to express feelings, to describe places... and his sense of humor! Such a wonderful read!"

"A must read not just for Venezuelans, but for all Latinos abroad! Through a multitude of events, both cultural and political, this book accurately describes what our generation has been about. Five stars."

"If you're looking to spend a good time in front of a book, and learn something in the process, this is a great option for you. You won't be disappointed!"

"Guaranteed to entertain!"
