Californian Sally Liddle isn't looking for any more British adventures, between her best friend Harry's brain tumor there in Yorkshire and her brother Jason's first go at parenthood out in Silicon Valley. When Harry's worsening condition brings home her ex-husband Graeme, Sally realizes the 2006 World Series is going to be a lot more than just baseball.

A one night stand between Sally and Graeme stirs up memories from their past, while Tigers' fan Jason faces his own demons, what with Detroit's poor play and his own murky parentage in question. Sally can't decipher Graeme's intentions, nor does she understand the message at Harry's bedside. Might it be the key to letting him go?

A Flemish note card, one sweet potato pie recipe and endless cups of English tea set the rules by which Sally, Graeme, Harry and Jason find themselves governed. As time grows short, Sally has to decide if love thought cold might be possible, while Harry faces his fear of the unknown. Can Graeme break through Sally's fears, and is there any hope for the Detroit Tigers? Drop the Gauntlet is a tale of love and fear, life and death. Set in North Yorkshire, England, it explores cross cultural relationships, the inexplicable natures of baseball and cricket to those uninitiated, and the timeless appeal of a cuppa.

About the Author

Anna Scott Graham is a native Californian. Having spent a decade in North Yorkshire, England, she now calls home the Silicon Valley. Living with her husband and the youngest of her three children, this is her first novel.

These delightful children’s stories are timeless and will be enjoyed by every generation!

Anita Brown was born on December 26, 1912 in Leland, Illinois. She attended and received her teaching degree from Northern Illinois University in 1932. She started her teaching career in a one room rural school house near Oregon, Illinois. Her duties included teaching grades one through twelve, as well as cooking lunch and cleaning the school.

Anita met and married Grantford Brown in 1941. Soon after World War II started, he left his new bride at home and went to war in the South Pacific, leaving her at home to continue her teaching career.

While she was pregnant with her son Ted in 1953, she started writing Stories of the Sandman for him, to help him cope with the trials of everyday life. She decided to write them in fairy tale form, so he might understand the lessons within them. She would sit up late at night in a closet, writing these stories by flashlight, so she would not disturb the rest of the family.

Anita passed away in 1986 hoping that the Stories of the Sandman might someday be published. These delightful children’s stories are timeless and will be enjoyed by every generation!
