about this author
(from the author's web site)
The basics: I was raised on the Jersey shore where I was fascinated with things like conch eggs and learning the Hebrew alphabet. We writers are an odd lot.
I played at college, then enlisted in the Navy and served at Brunswick, Maine and San Diego, where I stayed for 25+ years. I now hide out in the Pacific Northwest, twenty miles from the actual location of Einstein's brain.
In 2001, I was diagnosed with advanced lobular invasive carcinoma (a form of breast cancer). I'm sure glad to get that off my chest... so to speak. I hope my mysteries will provide both entertainment and hope to other cancer survivors.

Famous's
review of Everything You Need to Know to Feel Go(o)d:
"This book picks up where Molecules... left off. The style of the writing for the personal aspects of the books make me nearly cross-eyed at times - too self-referential and full of too many details like "then we pulled out the recording device ...more "

review of Everything You Need to Know to Feel Go(o)d:
"The audiobook version of this title is really neat - it's a live lecture that Dr. Pert gave to an audience in NYC, and then an in-depth interview delving into the heavier points in this book between the author and a woman with the most amazing voice ...more "

"Great start to a new series. Lesbian and breast cancer survivor Tess Camillo is quirky and fun and a great addition to the amateur sleuth field. "

"Not a bad book; in fact, it's won awards. But the writing style wasn't my taste. It just didn't capture my interest; I didn't finish it. However, I'm sure some people would find it a worthwhile read.

"Writing this type of book is easy. Writing this type of book well is extremely difficult. Mary Lou Shields wrote Sea Run with candor and grace. If you're interested in this type of story, it's one of the best.
