Douglas was born at a very early age. Left alone in this world completely naked, speechless, and unable to care for himself, he struggled and endured through a pitiless childhood into what he is today. Yes, the good news first, Douglas was able to master the fundamentals of life, language, and other essential social skills that makes one a successful human. Douglas always possessed the gift of an active imagination and as an imaginary, his true talents rest in the ability of creating an alternate universe and a world such as the Chronicles of Caledon. Douglas was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to McHenry along the beautiful Fox River. After spending such a short season there, one of Doug’s fonder moments as a young child, forced to move with his family to other places in the west before settling down in Medford, Oregon. “We lived in a couple of places in Oregon first, Tillamook, Coos Bay, and Central Point. I loved the coast a lot myself. Some say it’s too much rain, always cloudy and damp, but I liked it just the same.” Doug recalls. Medford in the very early years, for him it would be 1968 -1970 was something that he looks back and smiles. “Like so many people in this world today, not everyone’s childhood is all a bed of roses…” He grows silent for only a moment. “Medford had, at the time, a wonderful and interesting school system. I am not sure about it all now; after all it’s been a few decades since I’ve been back there…” He recalls. One of Doug’s most favorite schools was Jackson Elementary School, “Yes, I think the principal was a gentle and kind man by the name of Donald Perry. I only had to see him on a couple of occasions. In my early years, I didn’t get into too much trouble in school. However, later, that would, of course, have to change.” Douglas also adds, “Yes, and occasionally with the wonderment of the Internet, I am able to visit the Medford Mail Tribune and read up on what is happening to the old home town, if you would. After all, it’s nice to read about the happenings around there. So much has changed and I doubt if I would even recognize the Rouge Valley, let alone Medford now.” "Noodles" as his friends call him, a name coined by a childhood bully that Doug was, without a doubt, forced to engage and later overcome as the years passed. "Oh yes indeed, no body, no foul..." Anyway, it was in his youth living in Medford that Douglas caught the ever-consuming bug into the dark ominous world of the creative writing talent.....(less)
