| When I first started to read Domino by Jill Elaine Hughes I figured I knew what I would be getting because I've read a few of her other published works from e-publishers. I liked her work before and I've always considered her clean, tight writing sty...more | |

| I was thrilled when the authors, Alex Morgan and Jon Michaelsen, asked me to read a pre-release copy of Switch Hitter for several reasons. One, I've been a fan of Jon Michaelsen's LGBT fiction for a long time. And two because I've never read anything...more | |

| I didn't hear about the bio I, Rhoda by Valerie Harper through friends or articles or ads anywhere. I actually happened to pass The Jeff Probst talk show one night in January while surfing through channels and saw Jeff interviewing Valerie Harper. It...more | |

| I don't think I could add anything too different from what's already been said about The Casual Vacancy in over three thousand Amazon reviews. I've noticed that the reviews are mixed, and about half either loved the book or half didn't. I'd like to a...more | |

“You’re nothing but an aging sad cliché and I don’t want any part of it anymore. You’ll wind up right here, in a room just like this, twenty years from now paying for what I’ve been giving you for free from someone even younger than I am right now. Only you’ll be twenty years older and nothing more than a broken down image of the man you used to be. Good luck with that.”

“What are you doing?” Len asked.
“It will sound stupid if I tell you,” Jim said.
“No it won’t. Tell me.”
“I made a wish.”
“What did you wish for?”
Jim looked into his eyes, “That we will always be as happy as we are, right now, at this very moment in time.”

“Just when I think you’ve hit bottom you continue to amaze me,” Kyle said. “Or, does this get worse? Nothing would surprise me after this. Are you sleeping with a married man whose wife is dying of cancer?”
Elroy didn’t think he’d done anything wrong. “I know nothing about his wife, or his husband for that matter. I don’t ask and I’m not out to break up his home. Lighten up, man. Everybody does it. It’s not like I’m going to freaking marry this dude. I’m only having a little fun with him. You wanna come with me? We’ll have a three-way. You should see the way this guy moves. It will blow your mind.”
With that remark Kyle shoved his hands into his pockets and walked faster. “No, thank you. That’s not something I’m interested in doing. Meeting nice, decent people is the only thing that blows my mind. I just hope you’re using condoms, you goddman asshole.”

“You don’t have to apologize,” Treston said. “I know where I work, I know what I do to make a living, and I know it’s not the most respectable place in Vegas. But frankly, Chad, if you don’t mind my saying so, I think you have a lot to learn about good manners.”
Chad blinked. “What do you mean?”
Treston reached for his wine glass, finished off what was left to wash down the last forkful of chewy escargot, and said, “All I’m saying is you haven’t stopped harping about that blond, and I have to tell you it’s getting a little tired now. Seriously, man. It’s a little insulting, too.” He leaned forward, looked into Chad’s eyes, and held his hand. “Look, I know how hard it is for selfish men like you to understand empathy. Lord knows I’ve been with enough of them.”

“Kadin raised an eyebrow and gave Rob a knowing look. Then he tapped Gregory on the shoulder and said, “It’s not that bad. It could be worse.”
Gregory shrugged. “I guess I expect too much. All the decent hotels are gone now.”
Rob was carrying a delicate white orchid that had been carefully arranged in a low Imari dish. They never visited empty-handed. If it wasn’t a special gold box of Gregory’s favorite chocolate, it was a small, fine trinket from the antique shop. He placed the arrangement beside Gregory and said, “This is for you. I hope you like orchids.”
