Weird answer I know. What I mean is this...if I'm stuck on a particular part of a story, I turn to a different scene or chapter. Once I'm able to start the mind moving--the internal pen that drive the fingers on the keyboard--I seem to become easily unstuck...unblocked. If that doesn't work, I turn on some really loud, really good music (alternative rock being my favorite), then sing (badly) and dance (fairly well) around the house. It loosens me up. It takes off the 'pressure.' And the pressure is usually where the true block lies.(less)

It is truly my greatest passion (save for my children—college aged young men now, but still at home). From the research and the discovery of the buried treasure there, to the pure mind riffing of creating a plot, to the merging of the two in the crafting of the words, to what I learn every time an editor/copy editor goes through my book, to the feedback from the readers on what my books have meant to them. It is all a gift and joy as far as I’m concerned. (less)

It was the undeniable evidence of his intellect, his physical agility, and his courage, which propelled Lorenzo de' Medici to the forefront of his generation (irrespective of the fact that he was not the first born), to garner the full attention of his grandfather's and his father's tutoring and grooming to take over the ruling of the great Florentine family. Such concentrated focus could have... Read more of this blog post »
