<about><![CDATA[My life has changed a lot in the past few years, but the essence of my time on Earth is in my memoir Ghetto Celebrity (Crown, 2003).

I just sent a hunk of my third book to MTV Books/Simon & Schuster. It's not exactly a follow-up to the Random House project I published last spring (Rollin' with Dre, co-authored by Bruce Williams). However, the book — due out in 2010 — is undeniably informed by my work on RwD.

All art, music and, yes, sports turn me on. I travel and read and just generally try to keep my senses alive. Having said this, hip hop is a primary concern of mine, especially as my children grow up in a world that's all but normalized this culture. So, this book about the making of Dr. Dre's The Chronic — tentatively titled The Last Album that Changed the World) feels like the non-fiction book I was born and trained to make.

Ghetto Celebrity — Named one of 2003's Best Books by the San Francisco Chronicle — was an opening gambit to be taken seriously as a writer. RwD was a means of keeping my desperately fucked career alive. But the next one? Wow. I'm tryin' to do big things with The Chronic.

My first screenwriting efforts are making the rounds of Hollywood this season. Early feedback has been pretty compelling. If I'm fortunate and focused, you'll see my work on a screen near you in the coming years. Should the end result suck, I'll disavow it like nobody's business.
