My life has changed a lot in the past few years, but the essence of my time on Earth is in my memoir Ghetto Celebrity (Crown, 2003).

I work in film, as much as possible. My best-known work is the audio component of the animated short film Dock Ellis & the LSD No-No. Also, I've written a screenplay based on the short, which has two million YouTube hits and international critical acclaim.

Sometimes my writing appears in spaces outside editorial. Yet this month a Canadian magazine called Sharp did indeed publish my editorial work. It's a profile of the singer Tony Bennett.

On October 10, I'll tell a story at Litquate, San Francisco's stellar literary festival.
