About this author

New York Times bestselling author and illustrator, Tony DiTerlizzi, has been creating books with Simon and Schuster for over a decade. From his fanciful picture books like, "Jimmy Zangwow’s Out-of-this-World Moon Pie Adventure", "Adventure of Meno" (with his wife, Angela) and "The Spider & The Fly" (a Caldecott Honor book), to chapter books like "Kenny and The Dragon" and "The Search for WondLa", Tony always imbues his stories with a rich imagination. His middle-grade series, "The Spiderwick Chronicles" (with Holly Black), has sold millions of copies, been adapted into a feature film, and has been translated in over thirty countries.

Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler
My rating:
didn't like it it was ok liked it really liked it it was amazing
add to my books
Handler's story of a broken high school romance was like a box delivered from my own past. Inside, next to the mixed tapes and John Hughes movie ticket stubs, would be artifacts reminding me of the growth gained during my dramatic years of teen love.

The Giver by Lois Lowry

Lowry's gift is this contemporary dystopian tale from a world just next door to Bradbury's in "Fahrenheit 451". The poetic ending haunted me long after I put the book down.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

I was captivated by Bradbury's blazing vision of a media-controlled future matched with his smoldering character growth. Do you think "Nineteen-Eighty-Four" and "Brave New World" were among the first to be burned?

I decided to re-read this creepy oldie since I was only 14 when I first stepped foot into Tarker Mills, Maine. King's slow build through succinct storytelling still held this big kid entranced, especially when matched with Wrightson's grisly images....more
