About this author

Sarah Wendell is a transplanted Pittsburgher currently living in New York metropolitan area. By day she's mild mannered and heavily caffeinated. By evening she dons her cranky costume, consumes yet more caffeine, and becomes Smart Bitch Sarah of
Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. The site specializes in reviewing romance novels, examining the history and future of the genre, and bemoaning the enormous prevalence of bodacious pectorals adorning male cover models. Sarah has appeared in The New York Times, The New York Post, the Philadephia Inquirer, and on The Today Show.

I loved this book. Seriously. Loved. It is a step away from what I usually read, which is (obviously) romance. But I thoroughly enjoyed this book more than I have space to describe.

It's silly - beauty queens crash land on a deserted island and must...more

“Being in the habit of saying "Thank you," of making sure that people receive attention so they know you value them, of not presuming that people will always be there--this is a good habit, regardless...make sure to give virtual and actual high-fives to those who rock and rock hard.”
Sarah Wendell, Everything I Know About Love I Learned from Romance Novels

“To quote French author Francois Mauriac, 'Tell me what you read and I'll tell you who your are' is true enough, but I'd know you better if you told me what you reread.”

“Alphole heroes are just domineering assholes disguising themselves as alpha males. Real alpha males don't need to be assholes.”

Leon Shure Hi Sarah,
Thanks for adding me as a friend. I'm trying to write a mystery/romance with a very strong woman as the protagonist. It's going fairly well. Maybe you'll read it when it's published.

Leon Shure

Laura the Highland Hussy Hey sarah! thanks for accepting :) We talk all the time on twitter, now I can stalk follow you here too :)

Jacobmartin Thanks for the friend invite. Welcome to Goodreads!

Currently struggling to find love stories aimed at men. So far only Train Man by Hitori Nakano and my current read Mr. Rosenblum's List come close, and both of those are worlds apart in both the settings and constructions of race and gender.

It would be really interesting to see you, the queen of romance reviewing, take a stab at Train Man, because out of all the love stories I've attempted to read, it's like an internet age Jane Austen from the perspective of a male Japanese nerd.

You want to know why girls have Tiger Beat posters of Japanese pop stars on their walls? Well, this book gives you a perspective of the substance behind the mancandy.
