About this author

Most authors will tell you they've been writing and reading since childhood. Not me. I hated reading and never imagined I'd someday be a writer. Of course, the fact that I have dyslexia probably has a tiny bit to do with my aversion to the written word.

Nonetheless, I had a very active imagination and spent most of my school years staring out the window dreaming up stories. When I finally escaped the torture of public school, I attended Schreiner College in the Texas Hill Country. Schreiner specializes in programs for students with learning disabilities. With the help of a school administrator, who was willing to type out one of my short stories, I entered a writing contest—won first place!

That was when I started longing for a way to get the

One of my first goals is to have all my titles default to the new editions (most are available as ebooks, print-on-demand books, and audiobooks) rather than the old mass market editions.

As for At Last/Unforgettable, Unforgettable was the original title when the story was published by NAL (a Pinguin-Putnam imprint). When the book went out of print, my editor's assistant had moved from New York to Seattle to work for Montlake (an Amazon imprint). She always loved that story and approach my agent about buying it. At Last is a slightly revised version of Unforgettable, but the revisions are so slight, I doubt if most readers would notice them even if they read both version.

Amazon makes it very clear on the product page for At Last that it was previously released under the title unforgettable. Sadly, I have no control over the product descriptions for Unforgettable. Maybe Goodreads has a way to help me make it less confusing.(less)

Then read Return to Pearl Island, The Bonus Chapters before reading book 4, Lie to Me.

This is because the first three titles were a trilogy that originally came up in print. When I re-released them as ebooks, some time had passed, so I thought it would be fun to add a bonus chapter to each one to let fans of the print books catch up with the characters down the road. Writing the bonus chapters is what inspired me to write Lie to Me, which is Chloe's story. Chloe was a secondary character in Lead Me On and appears in that bonus chapter.

Today, the whole Pearl Island series is available as ebooks everywhere, in print at Amazon and B&N, and as audiobooks at Audible and iTunes. (less)

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve decided to give the Pearl Island Trilogy a fresh new look. When I first released these stories as ebooks, I was limited to stock art. Finding images that worked was very difficult. I was also trying to stick with a look that was similar to the original [...]

“You accept that people are the way they are. There's nothing you can do about it, except
learn ways to minimize the damage they can do to you. It's like rain. We don't feel a need to forgive
the sky for raining on a day when we really wanted sunshine, do we? No. We might be upset and
disappointed, but the need to forgive never enters our mind.”
