About this author

Tim Jeffreys is a weird fiction writer, originally from Manchester, UK.

DF Lewis - editor and publisher of Nemonymous - had this to say when reviewing The Haunted Grove: "I’ve never before encountered a new author (new to me, in any event) whose work...grabs me so significantly from page one." He concluded his review: "when on his top form as demonstrated here,...(Tim Jeffreys)...has the precious ability to grapple, I sincerely believe, with a writing gear in the horror or weird fiction genre beyond the reach of most."

Tim's short stories have appeared both on-line in ezines, aswell as in print anthologies and small press magazines.

I have just made available a collection of short stories called 'Bones in the Meadow and other weird tales.' It collects together all the best horror tales from my three other collections, plus the best of a batch of new stories. There are 30 stories in all, a mix of old and new.

Because my previous short story collections have such a mix of stories in them, I have decided to release 'Bones...'... read more »

“I've never been lonely. I've been in a room -- I've felt suicidal. I've been depressed. I've felt awful -- awful beyond all -- but I never felt that one other person could enter that room and cure what was bothering me...or that any number of people could enter that room. In other words, loneliness is something I've never been bothered with because I've always had this terrible itch for solitude. It's being at a party, or at a stadium full of people cheering for something, that I might feel loneliness. I'll quote Ibsen, "The strongest men are the most alone." I've never thought, "Well, some beautiful blonde will come in here and give me a fuck-job, rub my balls, and I'll feel good." No, that won't help. You know the typical crowd, "Wow, it's Friday night, what are you going to do? Just sit there?" Well, yeah. Because there's nothing out there. It's stupidity. Stupid people mingling with stupid people. Let them stupidify themselves. I've never been bothered with the need to rush out into the night. I hid in bars, because I didn't want to hide in factories. That's all. Sorry for all the millions, but I've never been lonely. I like myself. I'm the best form of entertainment I have. Let's drink more wine!”Charles Bukowski

I enjoyed this book, if enjoyed is the right word, although the second section does drag a little being a repeat of the first section from a different character's viewpoint. Having said that, the author does a nice job of letting us get inside each o...more

Dance of the Happy Shades and Other Stories by Alice Munro
I really enjoyed this book. You would expect short stories like this to get repetative, but I found each one wholly entertaining in its own right. Munro is confident enough in her art to leave certain aspects of the stories unstated so that the reade...more

“If we listened to our intellect we'd never have a love affair. We'd never have a friendship. We'd never go in business because we'd be cynical: "It's gonna go wrong." Or "She's going to hurt me." Or,"I've had a couple of bad love affairs, so therefore . . ." Well, that's nonsense. You're going to miss life. You've got to jump off the cliff all the time and build your wings on the way down.”
