His wife offered little consolation.

“Try some warm milk, dear,” she would opine. He spared her the grisly details,... Read more of this blog post »

Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French. It is wrong and inhuman to impose the Jews on the Arabs... Surely it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly as their national homeMahatma Gandhi

Dreamcatcher is sort of 'The Body' meets 'The Tommyknockers', with perhaps a touch of the Dark Tower series' metaphysics. But that's just Stephen King shorthand to let you know what to expect.

Is it entirely pretentious of me to say, “Straub's still got it”? Because he clearly does. No reason I should be surprised by that, I guess. But, wow. “Lost Boy, Lost Girl” is taut. In 281 pages, he manages to write a ghost story, a horror story, a s...more

Radar Love by Jason Z. Christie
" Their story was crazy and disjointed and highly dysfunctional. However, so were the main characters, Chris and Janique, and that is precisely what made this such an interesting read. Their crazy-love Bonnie and Clyde romance adventures reminded me... " Read more of this review »

Jason Z. Christie and 1 other person liked Mark Woods's review of MEAT:
MEAT by Michael Bray
" Just read this in a single day and have to say this is one of the best horror stories I have read in ages! It is absolutely grisly, gruesome and nasty ~ in other words, right up my street!

“On Gortician, a promotion was survival. Firings were literal. You were incinerated, and your successor’s first job was sweeping your ashes up for Ned’s Atomic
Dustbin, Gortician’s recycle center.”
Jason Z. Christie, Perfect Me

“Got any new ways to torture and kill people?”
“Hmmm,” said the voice. “Did you try stabbing them?”
“Of course. That’s one oh one stuff.”
“Shooting?’
“With extreme prejudice.”
“Burning?”
“Yes.”
“Strangling?”
“Naturally, I mean, I strangle people while I’m sleeping, even.”
“Crushing?’
“Sure.”
“Mangling?”
“All the time.”
“Hmmmm. Can we think about
this?”
Jason Z. Christie, Perfect Me

“Vreal filed away digital copies in triplicate, four analog copies, threw two copies away, shredded one, and finally, ate another. He was rather compulsive.”
Jason Z. Christie, Perfect Me

Topics Mentioning This Author

“Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words "make" and "stay" become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. I love you for free.”
Tom Robbins, Still Life with Woodpecker

“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”
Robert A. Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land

“Books say: She did this because. Life says: She did this. Books are where things are explained to you; life is where things aren't. I'm not surprised some people prefer books.”
Julian Barnes, Flaubert's Parrot

“So many books, so little time.”
Frank Zappa

“Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.”
Robert A. Heinlein
