About this author

Patricia V. Davis's latest work, The Diva Doctrine, came out of blog post she'd written to encourage younger women. The blog post went viral and was even translated into several languages. Her first book, Harlot's Sauce: A Memoir of Food Family Love Loss and Greece, was dubbed "delicious" by Marin Independent Journal and the Orange County Register called her a "renaissance woman." The Diva Doctrine, was published May 2011.

Patricia is also the founder and editor-in-chief of HS Radio e-magazine and podcast at my link text She has an "Expert in Failed Relationships" advice column there.

So, our friends at Redroom have asked us to blog about when we first knew we wanted to become writers. Hmmm. That's a tough one, because it seems I was born wanting to write.

“Coleridge was a drug addict. Poe was an alcoholic. Marlowe was killed by a man whom he was treacherously trying to stab. Pope took money to keep a woman's name out of a satire, then wrote a piece so that she could still be recognized, anyhow. Chatterton killed himself. Byron was accused of incest. Do you still want to a writer -and if so, why?”
Bennett Cerf

“Doubt gets a bad rap. Doubting doesn't mean you've stopped believing, but that you've started thinking. Sheep doubt nothing. Chances are you'll get further in life by questioning things than by living like something that ends up as dinner and a sweater.”
