Davis has had a lifelong enthusiasm for monsters, ever since he discovered his imaginary (monster) friend at the age of four.

Since then, Daniel has worked as a farmhand, paint mixer, bale bucker, bagel baker, rock picker, and graphic/web designer, but he was never able to abolish the creatures that filled his imagination.

In 2005, he and his wife Dawna, founded Steam Crow Press to bring his monster stories to life. KlawBerry is a modern folktale. The story is inspired by all kinds of ancient mythology, Grimm Brothers fairy tales, and folk stories from Africa, Europe, and India, all mashed together like a spicy red curry. It s about a monster girl who finds strength and power in herself, as she makes a odd journey. Grrlpower, literally. The artwork is a mashup of Kawaii goodness, Saturday morning cartoons, and happy mascots from Japanese and American candy wrappers, ran through a goth filter. Other inpiration includes Art Nouveau, toy design, classic illustrated books, as well as advertising design. KlawBerry is both fresh and modern, yet seen through a vintage lens.

Caught Creatures is the world's finest Monster Haiku book. Yes, that's probably the best way to describe it. It is full of monsters (mostly those that are caught), a Haiku for each one, and well, lots and lots of full color monster art. 48 pages, in fact. * Is it for kids? Sure! * Is it SCARY? Nope, not a bit. * Is it for adults? You bet! * Is it educational? There are lots of example Haikus in the book. * Is it for fans of monsters or Halloween? Huzzah! * Who wrote it? Daniel M. Davis. (The idea was from his wife.) "I created this book for my son Kaid" said Daniel Davis, the artist and illustrator of Caught Creatures. "He's inherited my love of monsters and the desire to hunt them down and capture them for their monster gold." "Though I wanted to make it for a kid, Caught Creatures isn't strictly a kid's book. It's full of references to old americana; video games, chopper bikes, old guitars, and vintage lighting. Most kids won't get it as much as their parents will... it's a wink and a nod to Gen X." Daniel goes on to say that "Caught Creatures is influenced by the 1970's as well as the Pop Surrealism/Lowbrow Art movement; Tim Biskup, Dave Wasoon, Junko Mizno, Mark Ryden, Bob Dob, and tons of other talented folks." Vintage toys, old cartoons, and sugary cereal all have contributed to Davis' unique and fresh vision.

Multistate Guide to Sales and Use Tax Audits (2005) provides state-specific material for preparing for and handling an audit in all states that impose sales and use taxes. Readers will gain an increased understanding of why their businesses or clients were selected for audit, how their audits will proceed, what the audit staff will be looking for, and how assessments are developed. Instead of enacted tax increases, taxing agencies are quietly encouraged to mine every possible dollar from the existing tax structures. As a result, a sales and use tax audit notice generally may be regarded as the first step in a state civil action intended to extract additional funds from a specific taxpayer. Since the system is biased in its favor, the state probably will emerge richer, often by unconsciously asserting tax beyond the taxpayer's true liability. Multistate Guide to Sales and Use Tax Audits is intended to improve the taxpayer's chances of prevailing in what is often an unfairly weighted contest. It aims to assist taxpayers in proactively avoiding paying more than their legal share of taxes.

Multistate Guide to Sales and Use Tax: Manufacturing explains, in practical terms, the rules involved with sales and use taxation of manufacturers and enables practitioners to keep track of state law developments in the states where they operate. The publication covers the basic theory and special issues involved with the sales and use taxation of manufacturing plants. It also provides step-by-step instructions on how manufacturers should proceed in the event of a sales and use tax audit. Each state has specific laws, regulations and procedural guidelines that apply to manufacturers. Moreover, state-by-state case law tends to be fairly extensive in this area. Finally, each state has different legal definitions, concepts, exceptions, compliance requirements, and audit procedures that affect manufacturers. Multistate Guide to Sales and Use Tax: Manufacturing combines text and charts that highlight each state's approach to sales and use taxation of manufacturers.
