About this author

Michele Gorman was born and raised in the US, but lost her heart to London nearly 15 years ago and is now a card-carrying Brit. Michele writes both chick lit (Single in the City, Misfortune Cookie, The Twelve Days to Christmas). She also writes upmarket commercial fiction under the pen name Jamie Scott.

Since procrastination is an essential element in writing, Michele spends way too much time on twitter and facebook and would be thrilled for readers to join her there. So follow @expatdiaries on twitter, send a friend request on www.facebook.com/michele.gorman3 or visit her website or blog (www.michelegormanwriter.blogspot.com).

And if you'd like her to sign an eBook for yourself or as a gift, just pop a request through on www.kindlegraph.com...more

... characters, that is... what did you think? I'm a chick lit writer who bakes cupcakes - not exactly the serial killer type, am I?

I've been struggling for the past several months with a manuscript. I've got the story firmly in my head, and I love it. I began writing at the beginning of January, and nearly three months later, I have 5,000 words to show read more »

“I had a friend in college who loved to say: 'If you can dream it, you can do it.' It became my mantra. I assumed it was a pearl of wisdom from some great thinker, a philosopher perhaps, like Descartes. It turned out to be Walt Disney, which in no way diminishes the wisdom of the advice. Anyone who can build a Magic Kingdom deserves to be listened to.”

“So it's true, then, being in love is like hitting the sweepstakes. It doesn't happen to everyone, and there's no way of saying who's going to win, but it changes your life when it does.”

Ulrike Hey Michele, I loved Single and the City and can't wait to read Misfortune Cookie. Will this be available as print version, too? I could only find the kindle version on Amazon.

Michele Gorman Hi Jessica, yay, glad we're connected! I've just started to write my next book, which (very excitingly!) I'm writing with the help of readers. I'm asking questions about characters and plot (and title!) and there are almost 50 women already helping me. It's like a writing community where we can discuss aspects of the book as I write it - if you'd like to get involved you can go to the blog (michelegormanwriter.blogspot.com) and join in. If you add your email on the left of the blog you'll get a note each time we post a new question. You can also follow me on Twitter (@expatdiaries) or send facebook request (www.facebook.com/michele.gorman3) since I'll always post when a we start discussing a new question.

Thanks!
Michele x
