Rebecca's Recent Updates

How Insensitive by Russell Smith
"How Insensitive, as it follows the travails of a young man in the big city, wandering drunkenly from one party to the next, meeting models, and so on, all in the early 1990s, reminded me strongly of Jay McInerney. Except that, I hasten to add, it..." Read more of this review »

I'm not going to give a star rating because, while I of course agree with everyone that this novel is incredible insightful and moving, the Waking Lion edition is a hot mess, riddled with typos to such an extent that it's pretty clear no one read ove ...more

This book made me INSANE. It is fantastically well-written, all the characters ring true individually (though some of their interactions do not) and London has never been so lovingly portrayed. I believe the message or lesson of both parts (it's actu ...more

Maureen hey: i was just thinking about you, and books, and i'm wondering if you've read the elegance of the hedgehog by muriel barbery? it was one of the books i've read in the last year that i really liked, for the characters, mostly; sometimes the author philosophizes a bit much, though she's a professor, so i tend to excuse her. if you haven't read it, i think it's worth putting on your list to-read list. i can lend it to you if you like, but i keep finding myself to dipping back into it, so every time i lend it out, i get very "have you read that yet?" no doubt you already have a long to-read list, but hey, i'd love to hear what you think of it, if you ever get a chance. :)

it was nice to see you! mo/xo

Rebecca Rosenblum Thanks for the suggestion! That title is really familiar, and yet I don't know the book! I will put it on my list but you are right, it's long so I won't take the chance of borrowing it and then driving you crazy.

Friday night was awesome--you guys really know how to party!
