I have been a huge fan of Carole Sutton since becoming hooked on her first novel, “Ferryman.” She writes with the same concise and fast-paced style of one of my other favorite mystery writers, P. D. James. Carole Sutton’s newest novel, “Blood Opal,”...more |

| I really wanted to like this book, as it is a classic. However, although I found the story well-written, it was a struggle to finish, mostly due to the diary format. | |

Hi Irene,Sons of Avalon: Merlin's Prophecy, explores Merlin's teen years, as well as the youthful Sir Lot. Although Morgan is not a featured player of the first book in the series...Morgan and her sister, Morgause, are introduced and play a pivotal role in the story
Thank you for your interest in Merlin's tale.
Dee Marie
Thank you Irene for taking the time to add me to your list of friends. If you enjoy Merlin and King Arthur, I hope you can one day read my novel Sons of Avalon: Merlin's Prophecy.Wishing you a wonderful summer,
Dee Marie
Hey!Ah ... I've been out of school for a year now. :P
Well, college anyhow. Just finalizing some stuff for a job working in a nursing home as a kitchen worker; and then I'll be working full-time. Really need to get my license.
I was having writers' block for quite a while; finally got past it when a supporting character of mine from another story turned out to be more interesting than the main character. So I started writing about her. I haven't written in a few days, but I think it'll work out.
Hope you've been well! :D
Hey SBG, How has it been going with you? How is school? How's the writing going. We need to get together for some cyber tea and catch up.
Hi Shalonda,Thank you so much for adding Sons of Avalon Merlin's Prophecy to your listmania list. Wishing you a most wonderful holiday season as well :]

Oh, cool! I only heard about it last year. Thanks, lol, but it's degenerated into a bunch of short stories and random musings. My novel just didn't hold up, and I've found my journal-type musings actually help get me to 50k faster than an actual novel.
Hey SBG,Yes, this is the third year that I am doing NaNoWriMo (only proves my point that insanity is a prerequisite of becoming a novelist).
My NaNoWriMo homepage is:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/232187
I will add you as my writing buddy :]
Edit: Wow, I just saw your NaNoWriMo word count...you are kicking butt...waaaaaaaaaaay to go! I am so proud of you :]
True, true. I'm 15.3k words in, and finally decided to force the plot in otherwise it'll keep being family angst and pages and pages of the same stuff.
I realize now I never asked you ... are you, by chance, doing NaNoWriMo as well? :)
My username is the same as my name here, but without the spaces.
:DYes, actually. I only decided about seven or so days ago.
My story seems incredibly plotless and boring, and yet I'm excited and shall actually try for 20k at least.
I must be insane.
Hey SBG,I fully understand what you are going through...we all have periods where we feel that we are in a slump. Please know that this too shall pass.
Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year? Sometimes writing 50,000 words in 30 days can jump start your writing :]
Wishing you a most wonderful month of writing. I believe in you!
Dee Marie
I haven't written anything lately. :(I looked over all my stories and realized I don't have as many as I thought, and I have no new ideas ... well I do, but I'm afraid of starting it. Because I've started more than 20 stories and haven't been able to go beyond 30 handwritten pages for any of them, and ...
yah. I think I just can't write anymore. I have plenty of time since there's no jobs available because the economy sucks, but it seems even that time isn't sufficient enough to get ideas out of my head, onto paper. I haven't finished a book since--well, in more than a year I think. And it's killing me not to be writing. I just keep getting stuck on the couple of stories I've tried finishing and put those aside and tried writing other ones or finishing other ones and its just this whole cycle in which nothing gets finished.
Dangit! I shouldn't be posting this kinda shtuff on your wall. I should post lots of happy stuff. Let's see ...
I'm still alive
have a great family
and um ... that's it for now. Hope you're having a great Monday. :)
Hey SBG,I am so excited that you are writing again. You MUST put your story on the computer. I would very much enjoy reading it over, as I know it will be wonderful :]
Keep writing!
Dee Marie
It worked a little bit! :DI went back to a story I've put aside for a long-ish time and took out some pages, rewrote stuff, and went on from there. I think I have at least five more pages of that story.
It's tapered down some and I'm trying to find the plot again; but ... it's only like forty something pages so I suppose I shouldn't worry about it too much. It took a whole 'nother direction. >.>
If I had it on the computer and not handwritten, I might've sent it to you and asked you to look over it and tell me if you thought it was good and if the new characters I introduced actually brought anything to the story, or if it felt like I just forced them together/it to happen.
Hey SBG,Dust off one of your favorite that's sitting around, and just start re-inventing it. I did that recently with a short story I started over 10 years ago.
It is amazing what a few years rest can do for the imagination :]
I believe in you! Keep writing!
Dee Marie
Ah ... well, I just re-read a lot of books, and read a couple ones from my TBR list--can't currently recall their titles. Oh wait, Gone, I read Gone.I've started like 20 stories, none are working. I've got really, really awful writers' block and have pretty much given up. I have plenty of wonderful ideas, they just don't work. This one's pretty bad, it'll probably last a year or more.
Thanks for replying--some of my friends seem to not see the comments I leave for them and I freak out and think they forgot about goodreads. I'm glad you've been doing alright, even with all the construction going on.
Hey SBG,I have been in construction hell this summer. After living in a hobbit (earth-sheltered) house, a new story has been added to the house. This fall I will turn from a hobbit into an elf, as the new story is like living in a tree house.
The view is beautiful from the new addition, and it will be wonderful when the construction guys leave :]
How are you doing? Read anything good lately? How is your novel coming along?
Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi.
Dee Marie
Hi Tara,I am so proud of you. Great job! Always remember that if you write just one page a day, your novel will be finished in a year! Whoo! Whoo!
Keep writing, and be sure to let me know when you have a link posted to read :]
Wishing you a wonderful summer
Dee Marie
Hey Dee, I finally found the time to start a new story. My goal is to make it over two hundred pages long. I've already finished the first chapter. Hopefully when I finish it I could post it on Goodreads for others, including yourself, to read it. have a great summer.
Tara
Hi Rowena,Don't you just love Goodreads.com? What a wonderful community to rub elbows with fellow authors and readers.

Hey Tara,Sanity is so over-rated :]
And yes...I too love the the Twilight sage and Harry Potter series :]
Keep on writing!
Dee Marie
You like Twilight? me too. I need more time in the day to write my own stories. I love to write stories based on my own harsh experiences, And when I have my friends read them they look at me with amazement in their eyes. They it's good but dark, and sometimes that I'm flat out crazy. And I tell them "everyone's crazy. I'm just sane enough to admit it." But I would love to show you some of my work some time.
Hi Kat, Vanessa and Stuart,I have to start checking this section on Goodreads more often.
Wishing you all a wonderful week :]
Stuart, be sure and let me know when you book arrives. Hope it is not coming by a slow boat :]
Hi Dee,Great news! After two weeks of waiting Amazon has just sent an e-mail....'Sons of Avalon: Merlins Prophecy' is on its way to my house. I'm really excited!
Happy Days, Stuart (down under)
Happy Holidays to you as well! I hope your New Year is filled with many magical moments, and TONS of new stories for me to read!Dee Marie
Hey of course,I am honored that you asked. As you know, I enjoy your stories, and look forward to reading more. Now, get off the computer and get writing...{just teasing}
