About this author

William Manchee is an attorney by trade and practices consumer law in Dallas with his son Jim. Originally from southern California, he now lives in Plano, Texas with his wife Janet of some 45 years. Manchee first discovered his passion for writing in 1995 when he started his first novel as a diversion from the stress of law practice. He loved writing so much he vowed then to write a novel every year for the rest of his life. So far he is on schedule as his current project, "Tarizon: Shroud of Doom" his nineteenth published novel. He's the author of the Stan Turner Mysteries, The Tarizon Saga, the Rich Coleman Novels and a nonfiction book for small business owners entitled "Go Broke, Die Rich."

You can also read Desert Swarm, Cactus Island and Act Normal which relate to what is happening on Earth at the same time as the Tarizon Civil War. If you have read all of those I am currently working on Tarizon: Unification which is the story of Sandee Brahn and the unification of Tarizon under the Supreme Mandate. It should be out next spring. Glad to hear you are enjoying the Tarizon series.(less)

Last year over 50,000 fiction titles were published but less than 10% made it into the major bookstores. My advice is not to self publish but be patient and try to get a good agent and place your work with a publisher that has good distribution and marketing. If you do chose to go with a small press or self publish be prepared to spend a lot of time and money as you will have to do an incredible amount of marketing to be successful. You literally will have to be obsessed with getting your book into stores and in the hands of readers to have even a long shot at success. I'm not trying to discourage you, but you should know what you're up against.

Best of luck to you and if you have any specific questions about submissions, marketing, or anything else related to publishing, please feel free to email me. If I know the answer or can help you in any way I will.(less)

While my son Jeff was in college at UT in the late 90's he was also trying to qualify for the pro golfing circuit. One summer when he got an invitation to go to Trinidad & Tobago for a tournament I couldn’t resist the urge to go with him. I love to travel and it was a good excuse to see another part of the world.

As luck would have it, when the time came to leave, I was very sick with an upp... Read more of this blog post »

“Many small businesses are doomed from day one, not from competition or the economy, but from the ignorance of their owners . . . their destiny is already decided because they have no idea how a business should be operated.”
William Manchee, Go Broke, Die Rich: Turning Around the Troubled Small Business

“Never call your office while you’re on vacation. That’s always been one of my hard and fast rules.”
William Manchee, Deadly Distractions

“There are few experiences in life as painful and brutal as the failure of a small business. For a small business conceived and nurtured by its owner is like a living, breathing child. Its loss is no less traumatic than losing a loved one.”
William Manchee, Go Broke, Die Rich: Turning Around the Troubled Small Business

“If there was a day of the week I could skip it would be Monday. Clients had too much time to think and worry over a long weekend and by Monday they were often riddled with fear and anxiety.”

“What is it that makes a seemingly rational man set out on a perilous journey knowing full well that the odds of success are quite remote and the consequences of failure are likely to be devastating? Is it pride, stubbornness, a yearning for adventure, or just a reckless disregard of reality?”
