About this author

I was born in London. After completing a PhD in visual information processing, I moved to Canberra, Australia. Currently, I live on the Sunshine Coast, Qld, with my wife, Judith.

I'm also involved with woodwork and tai chi (with a slight martial flavour).

My new novel, Glide In Slowtime, is available both as a paperback and ebook.
Glide is a humorous fantasy set in an alternative Australia.

I also have a paranormal thriller, good Buddhists vs bad Buddhists. It's available as an ebook.

This reads more like a diary than a novel. There is a very occasional witticism but otherwise the writing is very dated. The theme is very much "class". Who in British society outranks whom?
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
This book is judged to be a classic. It certainly is full of ideas. But a good portion of it deals with space military action. That would interest many people but I just don't bit the bullet.

This is an extremely thoughtful book that deals with the issue of conformity.
At times, the writing has a dreamlike poetic quality. First published in 1953, it is a bit dated.

I thought the general idea was good but it didn't read all that well.

A brilliant book. Very unsettling theme of children raised to be organ donors.
I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett
I thought this was a great read. It's supposed to be YA. I found it to be a very mature book.
61 Hours by Lee Child

This is a gripping read. A little problem with the main character. He's a drifter but has managed to become perfect at just about everything.

A very puzzling book. Poetic at times but not enough to be gripping.
