5 stars= If I love you, I'll buy you a copy from this list of books. (Pls note, if you are my family or dearest friends, feel free to remind me to do so. I am lousy w remembering birthdays/holidays.)

4 stars= Don't even ask to borrow it. You should prob buy it though.

3= If you borrow it, you better not lose it, mangle it, or keep it too long.

2 or 1 star= I don't use these. If it's not a 3 star or above, I don't finish it. Life is too short to read books that I'm not enjoying.

no star= I haven't felt like listing my opinion on it yet, but it's btw 3 & 5. I don't list 'em if I don't like 'em.

NOTE: Also, please don't ask me to join groups!!! I don't do groups as a rule. Thx!

I was excused from missing curfew once bc of a vampire. The old music box sometimes played when my grandfather's spirit was near. Writing, for me, came from the way I was raised.

That also often means that the myth comes first. It's not a case of choosing, as much as it is about a story that resonates. I have more of those that are myth than not. There are exceptions, of course. MADE FOR YOU, my upcoming YA, however, is not sparked by my lifelong myth exposure but by my own personal experience being stalked. My middle-grade (LOKI'S WOLVES and ODIN'S RAVENS) with Kelley Armstrong comes from having a 12-yr old son who lamented the lack of Norse books (& didn't want to read the WL series).

I'll end up back with faeries periodically because they are closest to my heart and the stories I grew up with, but there are other things that lure me away too.

(Great question, btw! Thanks.) (less)

So, yes, there will be similar books.

However, at this time, I have no plans for more WL books. My 21yr old daughter re-wrote the ending of the series, so I ponder working on that book with her and finishing it. I'm not a big planner though. I work on what strikes me when it does so, rather than have some vast plan & schedule for my writing. I just sort of wing it. For example, Wicked Lovely was initially a short story, then it was a book, then it was series, & soon it'll be a film (or so the producers tell me). NONE of it was planned. (less)

Deleted Sequence from FRAGILE ETERNITY (Irial) (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated Aug 22, 2009 10:36AM
Description: NOTES: This whole history between Dark & High Courts has been a fact in my mind since I wrote Ink Exchange. Creatures who live for centuries have interactions that cross and re-cross lines. The problem with this chapter was that it didn’t move the plot forward. It was mostly backstory, worldbuilding stuff that doesn’t advance the story. This section was originally set after the killings in the Hall. In my mental version of the world of these characters, the events in this chapter DO happen. They just aren’t in your copies of the books.

He's not sexy. But he was, and she was staring at him like a fool. "wow" she whispered (.....)"Wow, huh?" His voice was low, husky. His chair creaked as he stood. The Alchemyst byMichael Scott

goodreads summary-The tomb of Nicholas Flamel is empty. The greatest alchemist of his day supposedly died in 1418, but rumors continue to swirl that he continues to walk among us. Could it be true that this magician/chemist has access to the secret of eternal life? Could the Book of Abraham, which he purportedly owns, hold the key to this elixir? If it does, the theft of this single ancient volume could destroy the world as we know it. An exciting tale.

Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

goodreads summary-The Barnes & Noble Review
Bestselling fantasy writer Amelia Atwater-Rhodes takes wing with her fifth riveting novel, this time whisking readers to a world of warring shapeshifters and turbulent attempts at peace.

Forever at war, the hawk-human shapeshifters and serpiente snake-human shifters feel only raging hatred for each other. So when an important serpiente dies in the arms of Danica Shardae, heir to the Tuuli Thea throne, she makes the decision that she's had enough fighting. Likewise, Danica's serpiente counterpart, Zane Cobriana, has also grown tired of losing close relatives to war, and when a peace meeting leads to the two getting secretly married and joining their clans, their decision could mean either wide acceptance or revolt. Thankfully, Danica and Zane's high rank and prestige have a fairly positive effect on the masses, but with assassination attempts and a marriage not based on love, the pair are tested to learn if their own resilience and faith is enough to overcome cultural differences and deep-seeded distrust.

Tense and empowering, Atwater-Rhodes's fifth book won't disappoint her fans. This page-turner is as fraught with battling clans and clandestine relationships as Romeo and Juliet, while peace -- not love -- is the tie that binds the two main characters. Always forcefully grounded and skilled at plot twists, Atwater-Rhodes will be sure to snag readers in her imaginative grip. Matt Warner

Enchanted, Inc. by Shanna Swendson

goodreads summary-DON’T MESS WITH HEXES

Katie Chandler had always heard that New York is a weird and wonderful place, but this small-town Texas gal had no idea how weird until she moved there. Everywhere she goes, she sees something worth gawking at and Katie is afraid she’s a little too normal to make a splash in the big city. Working for an ogre of a boss doesn’t help.

Then, seemingly out of the blue, Katie gets a job offer from Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., a company that tricks of the trade to the magic community. For MSI, Katie’s ordinariness is an asset. Lacking any bit of magic, she can easily spot a fake spell, catch hidden clauses in competitor’s contracts, and detect magically disguised intruders. Suddenly, average Katie is very special indeed.

She quickly learns that office politics are even more complicated when your new boss is a real ogre, and you have a crush on the sexy, shy, ultra powerful head of the R&D department, who is so busy fighting an evil competitor threatening to sell black magic on the street that he seems barely to notice Katie. Now it’s up to Katie to pull off the impossible: save the world and–hopefully–live happily ever after.
