About this author

Born in 1963, Michael Hicks grew up in the age of the Apollo program and spent his youth glued to the television watching the original Star Trek series and other science fiction movies, which continues to be a source of entertainment and inspiration. Having spent the majority of his life as a voracious reader, he has been heavily influenced by writers ranging from Robert Heinlein to David Weber, and many in between. Living in Maryland with his beautiful wife, two wonderful stepsons and two mischievous Siberian cats, he left his government career job and now writes full-time.

Actually, all of them do. I have been blessed with many strong female role models in my life, and I think that's reflected in my writing. You won't find any of my female characters running away screaming, clumsily tripping over something, then swooning before their doom, only to be saved by the gallant hero. As often as not, the hero's bacon is being saved by the heroine... ;-)(less)

Mistress Of The AgesI’ve decided that it’s time to go ahead and put out the call for beta readers for MISTRESS OF THE AGES. I’m still waiting for a few revisions for the very last chapters, but the rest of the book is ready for “beta testing,” so I’m going to go ahead and send out all but the last bit and then send that on once it’s ready.

For those who may be new to this game, the function of beta readers in myedi...

“In the United States, the government has abrogated its responsibilities to safeguard the food supply of its citizens. The biotech companies do the safety testing of their own products, then pass the positive (big surprise) results to the appropriate government agency (the Food and Drug Administration, in particular), which then approves it for sale and distribution. On top of that, a number of key officials in these agencies over the years have been former executives or employees of the biotech firms.  In short, GMO products in the United States do not receive a critical safety evaluation from an unbiased party before they appear on store shelves. This is compounded by the aforementioned labeling laws that prevent food manufacturers from telling consumers that a product contains GMOs.”

Michael Hey, folks! I'm putting together a group of beta readers for DEAD SOUL, the latest novel of the IN HER NAME series. I've already got several, but am looking for a couple more.

I'm mainly looking for folks to help critique the story and find its weak spots, things that strike you as odd, etc. I don't ask that beta readers look for spelling or grammar bloopers, but if you do notice some and pass them along, it would be most appreciated. :-)

This is on a pretty tight timeline, unfortunately: I'd like to have the feedback in by this coming Sunday, so please take that into account.

Anyway, if you're interested, please let me know by this afternoon today and I'll send you a copy (Kindle, PDF, or ePub format).

Natasha Thank you for connecting with me. Please check out my blog "Where Every Book = A New Adventure", if you haven't already. I look forward to sharing my love of books with you.
