Thanks, Serena!
There are many periods of history that fascinate me, but I'd really love to write a book set in ancient Egypt some day; it's always been one of my obsessions.

I think historical fiction remains so popular because it reflects the past to us in ways we can understand. No matter how factually accurate a writer may be, in the end, the historical novel says more about us, while allowing us to experience the drama of history through the prism of our current reality.(less)

Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for asking. I actually have written a book about Lucrezia Borgia, covering her tumultuous, dramatic youth in the Vatican. The working title is "Borgia's Daughter" and it will be published in 2016 by Ballantine Books / Random House in the US, and Hodder & Stoughton in the UK. There's currently a listing for the UK edition here on Goodreads, but the 2015 pub date is wrong. It won't be out until early 2016. My next novels are "The Tudor Vendetta," out on October 21, and "Mademoiselle Chanel", which will be out on March 17, 2015.(less)

It seems like those “Best of” lists are ubiquitous this time of year. They always drive me a bit crazy, because to me, most, if not all, books have merits. After all, somebody took the time to sit down and write it, and someone else took the time to edit and publish it. Each book carries a bit of the author’s soul in it and therefore deserves respect. That said, not every book is for everyone,... Read more of this blog post »
